Last week, Anna Baró, Autoterminal Quality and Environment Responsible, joined the Sustainable Mobility event that the port of Barcelona held to discuss the challenges that face industries and manufacturers towards
Some of the measures that Autoterminal proposed that contribute to reduce gas emissions and improve the mobility were:
- Encourage the workers to take public transport and carpool to work.
- Reconsider the two-hour optional lunch break to minimize the amount of commutes.
- Promote the acquisition of electrical vehicles and renovate the car fleet, install more charging points (currently there are 10 available).
Autoterminal Barcelona is the vehicle logistics platform for Mediterranean countries and the rest of Europe. It is integrated within Noatum Maritime Automotive the specialized division of vehicles and ro-ro cargo of Noatum Maritime. In 2018 Autoterminal managed more than 500,000 vehicles, 5,619 of them were electric.
These measures will contribute towards reducing EU’s greenhouse gas emissions and air pollutants and will meet the requirements of the plan “Barcelona low emissions area” that will take effect by January 1st 2020.
